It was at Seattle University and we stayed in a building called "Campion Hall" and it was really big and there was a giant ballroom. My roommate was a girl named Crystal. Our room was erally far down the hall, much farther away from the elevator than anyone else's, We had a lot in common. The first night at the camp, we stayed up until midnight sitting on the windowsill, looking out the window and talking.
The girls in our group were really nice, most of them at least. Two girls, Emily and Sophie, stayed quiet most of the time. Emily left early though because she was feeling sick.
There were another two girls, Janet and Jacquelin, who looked similar and were both really weird. Janet was hyper and obsessed with cards and Jacquelin liked to get uncomfortably close to people.
Hannah and Michelle were both halfies and really tall. Hannah was quiet-ish, but she was really funny when she was louder. Michelle was really close to her mom and was nice to pretty much everyone.
Jia Jia was the other girl and she was really skinny and looked a bit fragile, but she was really funny at times. Today was her birthday. She was younger than everyone else though because I don't think there was room for her in the younger group.
My sister's roommate was... strange. She cried for the first two nights and had to borrow my flashlight for the third because she was scared of the dark. Also, if anyone was even slightly kind to her, she'd cling to them like plastic wrap.
OH, AND GUESS WHO WAS THERE?
MA-CHEW!!!!!
I laughed so hard when I saw him.
The food there was really average. Extremely not that great. We had like and hour for lunch, so we just played card games after we finished. The popular one was James Bond, which is another name for Stress. So fun. All the guys kept playing BS, though. There was a huge debate about the meaning of BS, as there were small children around.
I got seven mosquito bites in one day. They were all swollen by the day after. They're also in really inconvenient places like the back and front of my forearms, my elbow, my knuckle, and my finger. Pain.
I really really really really really need to bake. I haven't baked in a month.
I'm leaving in two days for STUPID MEXICO AND I CAN'T BAKE.
We had a huge water bottle fight last night. Some people ended up mixing green oil and dish soap and hand sanitizer in to their bottles. So it'd hurt when it gets in your eyes.
I was also wearing a white t-shirt, but I didn't realize it until after I got soaked. A guy counselor saw... really awkward.
Also that guy was one of orchestra peoples' brother.
I slept with these other people because there were a bunch of bugs in my room and I was really uncomfortable. Other people slept over too because one was scared (we told ghost stories XD) and the other... I don't quite know why.
We had several asian classes, chinese knotting, lion dance, folk dance, chinese yoyo, calligraphy, clay, and chinese painting. Most of them were really fun, but some of the teachers were really bad, like the knotting teacher. She talked so slowly and with such a strong accent (I think it was guangdong) and every time she demonstrated a knot on someone else's thing, she would finish the entire step.
The clay arts teacher was really bad, because she just gave us an example and told us to make it. Little to no construction. 2/10 would not take again. Most of our clay things ended up sucking.
My bird broke too.
The lion dance was really boring because only the people who were being the lions got to do anything. I was put on gong, where we just... hit it. There were two gong people, but I don't see the point in that. The teacher didn't give that much instruction to any of the music people but the drums. Not fair at all.
Chinese yoyos were really fun, and the teacher was nice and really helpful. She was sent from Taiwan. We were split up in to group and my group had to learn a trick called "Doggy jump suicide" or "Doggy suicide" and one called "Golden stick". They're both really cool but the first one is a bit harder. We also had to throw the yoyo up in the air three times in a row before catching it in a "V-catch". During the performance, my string got caught on Matthew's string and I dropped my yoyo... >.<
The dance teacher was also from Taiwan and she was really nice and pretty and really small compared to the guys. The dance was... A little embarrassing. We had to carry around ribbon pompoms and wave them around and jump and spin and lift them high in to the air and then back down. Six others were chosen to handle the ribbons, which were much easier to wave around. Those are sooo much fun to wave around.
I really sucked at painting and calligraphy. At one point, I forgot how to paint a certain type of fish and so I was just drawing random ink blobs. I also drew this really pretty one, but it was ruined because my eye spread out way too much. My morning glories were pretty, but my chicks turned out really really really really fat. Like... Fat. And everything just spazzed out. Some water spilled on my paper too so the butterfly I drew grew a beard. D:
On top of that, we had to dance this:
I think the quality might kinda bad though.
The title of the song translates to "You are my flower bud".
We had to dance to this twice every night.
Oh, and at the end of the day, everyone would get together and be forced in to poorly planned games.
There was one where we had to link hands and they would tear a hole in the newspaper and then they would try to get the newspaper through one person and on the the next. I'm not sure how to explain it...
There was a final performance and everyone did okay, but still pretty bad. The really little kids were SO CUTE THOUGH.

Sadie was so happy when I came home. I feel so bad that we're going to ditch her again in two days D:
Dang it, Mexico.
Bearded butterflies... :D
ReplyDeleteI'm tired... don't expect a good comment; terrible night.
What does the pony faces thing have to do with anything? I'm LOST.
Sadie will be fine, so will you all. It won't be like m- I TOLD MYSELF BEFORE I WOULDN'T SAY THAT. WTF IS WRONG WITH ME?
Oh yeah. Little to no sleep.
HAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHA!!! THAT DANCE IS HILARIOUS. What was Crystal's last name? It wasn't Shih, was it? The camp actually sounds kinda fun...except the dancing. I can't imagine Matthew doing that...HAHAHAHAHA. I can't imagine you doing that either...actually maybe yes, because you were dancing at the boat dance...at least more than I did. Did you speak Chinese to everyone? Or just to the teachers?
